How we calculated this

Converted amount = amount × exchange rate. Numerila does not work out exchange rates itself. The rate is the reference rate Frankfurter publishes for your chosen pair, and the multiplication happens in your browser. The rate is used exactly as received and only the shown amount is rounded, to the number of decimal places that currency normally uses.

A result written as a plain number is exact. A result starting with “≈” has been rounded to 10 significant figures, because its exact decimal never ends or is too long to read comfortably. When an exact value is long, its full digits are shown underneath. The calculation itself is never rounded: only the display is.

Worked example

If 1 US dollar is worth 0.92 euros, then 100 US dollars is 100 × 0.92 = 92 euros.

How it works

Numerila asks Frankfurter for the reference rate for your two currencies. Only the two currency codes are sent. The amount you enter and the result stay on your device. Numerila stores nothing about them.

Frankfurter gives the date of the rate and not a time, so the page shows a date. Rates are daily reference rates and not a live trading feed, so the figure does not change by the second. A rate is reused for up to 30 minutes while the page stays open and is then requested again. If a rate cannot be loaded, the page tells you and does not show an earlier one in its place. A rate dated more than 7 days ago is marked as old.

These are indicative reference rates. Your bank, card provider or exchange service may use a different rate and add charges, so the result is an estimate and not a quote. Numerila does not give trading, investment or best provider advice.

What this result means

The converted amount is your amount multiplied, in your browser, by the reference rate for the two currencies you chose. The date of that rate is shown beside it.

Assumptions and limitations

  • Rates are indicative reference rates and may differ from the rate your bank, card provider or exchange service actually applies.
  • The provider gives the date of a rate and no time, so only a date is shown.
