Word count
- Lines
- Paragraphs
- Reading time
Reading time assumes 200 words a minute, and is only a rough guide.
How we counted this
Numerila finds words using your browser's built in text segmentation, which understands word boundaries across many languages and scripts, not just text separated by spaces. A contraction such as "isn't" counts as one word, and a hyphenated word such as "test-case" counts as two. A line is any run of text between line breaks, and a paragraph is a run of lines separated by one or more blank lines. For characters, see the Character Counter.
Reading time is the word count divided by 200 words a minute, which is a commonly used pace for silent reading, rounded to the nearest minute. People read at very different speeds, so treat it as a rough guide and not an exact figure.
What this result means
The main figure is the number of words. Lines, paragraphs and an estimated reading time are shown beside it. There is no character or sentence count here.
Assumptions and limitations
- Other tools may count words slightly differently, because there is no single agreed definition of a word.
