Whitespace Cleaner
Remove extra spaces, tabs and blank lines from text, using only the options you choose.
Worked example
Suppose a line reads "hello", then five spaces, then "world", and three blank lines follow before the next paragraph. With repeated spaces and repeated blank lines switched on, the line becomes "hello world" and only one blank line is left before the next paragraph.
How this works
Nothing changes unless you tick an option, and each option only does what its label says. Spaces here means the ordinary space, the tab and the other Unicode space characters, such as the non breaking space. Zero width characters are not treated as spaces and are left alone. Turning repeated spaces into one includes spaces at the start of a line, so it will flatten indentation. A blank line is one that is empty or holds only spaces and tabs.
Your line breaks stay exactly as they were, whether your text uses Windows, Unix or older Mac line endings. Words, punctuation, numbers and emoji are never changed. To remove repeated lines rather than spaces, use the Duplicate Line Remover.
What this result means
The result is your text with only the whitespace changes you ticked, and the number of characters removed is shown with it.
