Random Team Generator
Split a list of names into a chosen number of random teams whose sizes differ by no more than one.

How the teams are made
Every line that is not blank is one participant, kept exactly as you typed it. A name entered twice is two participants, because nothing is merged or removed. The list is shuffled with your browser's Web Crypto random generator, and the names are then dealt out to the teams one at a time, in turn, like dealing cards.
That means the teams differ in size by at most one person. When the number of participants does not divide evenly, the earlier teams have the extra person. Every participant is in exactly one team. Nothing is saved, and running it again makes a fresh, independent split.
What this result means
The result is your participants split into the number of teams you chose. Team sizes differ by no more than one.
Assumptions and limitations
- You choose the number of teams. There is no option to choose the team size, to keep certain people together or apart, or to balance by skill.
- Duplicate names are separate participants. Nothing is merged or removed.
