Density Converter
Convert a density between kilograms per cubic metre, grams per cubic centimetre, pounds per cubic foot and similar units.

Worked example
1 g/cm³ = 1,000 kg/m³, and 1 g/mL and 1 kg/L are the same as 1 g/cm³ and 1,000 kg/m³ respectively. 1 lb/ft³ ≈ 16.01846337 kg/m³.
How it works
Every unit converts through kilograms per cubic metre using exact factors: a millilitre is exactly a cubic centimetre, so g/mL and g/cm³ are the same size. Pounds and ounces per cubic foot or inch use the exact pound (0.45359237 kg), foot (0.3048 m) and inch (0.0254 m). This tool converts a density value you already have. It does not look up or estimate the density of a material or ingredient, and it does not turn a mass into a volume. Specific gravity, which has no unit, and pounds per gallon, which depends on which gallon is meant, are not included. Enter zero or more: a density cannot be negative.
A result written as a plain number is exact. A result starting with “≈” has been rounded to 10 significant figures, because its exact decimal never ends or is too long to read comfortably. When an exact value is long, its full digits are shown underneath. The calculation itself is never rounded: only the display is.
What this result means
The converted value uses exact, defined conversion factors. A plain number is exact; a result starting with “≈” is rounded to 10 significant figures.
Assumptions and limitations
- Converts a density value only; it does not look up a material’s density or turn a mass into a volume.
- Negative values are rejected. Specific gravity and pounds per gallon are not included.
