Countdown Calculator

See how long remains until a date and time you choose.

Choose the place the date and time refer to.

Worked example

From 00:00 on 1 January to 02:03:04 on 2 January (in the same place) is 1 day, 2 hours, 3 minutes and 4 seconds. Once the target moment is reached, the countdown stays at zero.

How we calculated this

Your date, time and place are turned into one exact moment, then the time from now until that moment is split into days, hours, minutes and seconds. The display updates every second while the page is open. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere, and closing the page ends the countdown.

If the time you enter does not exist because clocks go forward, Numerila says so instead of moving it. If it happens twice because clocks go back, you choose which one to count down to.

What this result means

The result is how long remains, in days, hours, minutes and seconds, from your device’s clock now to the date and time you chose in the place you chose.

Common mistakes

  • Choosing the wrong place: a midnight countdown in Tokyo ends at a different moment from a midnight countdown in New York.

Assumptions and limitations

  • The countdown runs only while the page is open and depends on your device’s clock. Nothing is saved, and no alert or notification is sent.
  • Targets from 1 January 1970 to 31 December 2100 are supported.
