Business Days Calculator

Count the Monday-to-Friday days between two dates.

Worked example

From Friday 25 September 2026 to Monday 28 September 2026 is 1 business day: the start date is not counted, and of the days after it only Monday is a weekday. From Monday 28 September to Monday 5 October is 5 business days.

How we calculated this

Business days here are Monday to Friday. The start date is not counted and the end date is, the same convention as Days Between Dates (1 January to 2 January is one day), so a business-day count can never be larger than the number of calendar days.

Public holidays are not automatically excluded, because they differ by country, region and year and Numerila does not keep a holiday calendar. If your dates include holidays, subtract them yourself. If you enter the dates in the wrong order, they are put in order and the count is the same.

What this result means

The result is the number of Monday-to-Friday days after the start date, up to and including the end date. Saturdays and Sundays are not counted.

Examples

  • Friday 25 September 2026 to Monday 28 September 2026: 1 business day: only the Monday counts

Common mistakes

  • Expecting the start date to be counted: it is not, so a Monday to Friday span is 4 business days, not 5.

Assumptions and limitations

  • Public holidays are not automatically excluded, because they differ by country, region and year. Subtract any that fall in your range.
  • Only Saturday and Sunday are treated as the weekend.
